The driving force

Here’s the premise upon which I base my work here, and of the coming years:

I accept that there will be disparities in the world. I accept that life is not fair. I accept that resources, power, opportunities will not be shared equally.

But I hate that we live in a world that these disparities are based not on the limits of people’s abilities, but their circumstance. That’s what I want to help change.

B: who is this and what is the photo’s context?

When people ask me why I consider you such an inspiration to me, I’m going to point them to this post. Thank you.

Perfectly put, B: couldn’t have said it better. Certainly not so succintly. I often muse on how different my life would have been had I had one (or both) different parent, or a different partner. It’s a great buffer against taking a lot for granted, or assuming somehow that it’s just you and your efforts that entitle you to the things you have.

Thank you all.

With writing these days I’m working on the second draft = first draft - 25% principle.

Mom, it was my neighbour from Senegal, a photo taken in 2004. She held that pose for four shots, wonderful as she is.

That’s exactly how I feel too. Thanks, Brendan.
